What does music mean to you, and how does it shape your identity as an artist?

- "Music plain and simple, means everything to me, it is me, and defines everything I am, I’m not to great at expressing my emotions with words but I feel as though with music it expresses those feelings in ways that words simply can’t touch. I do vocals for a deathcore band called Severance as well so I’m certainly not limited to how I can express said feelings"

How do you define your sound, and what makes it unique in your eyes?

- "It’s simply defined by whatever’s going on in my life at the time and the emotions I felt surrounding those events, if it’s a sad moment then the tracks will be melancholic, if it’s a happy pleasant moment then it’ll be upbeat etc. As stated I do lot of music projects that dive into other genres so I feel as though the unique style of it comes from me blending other sounds I’ve picked up along my journey and stirring them into the mix of what I’m making"

What inspires you the most when you’re creating music?

- "People and events, it’s impossible for me to just pluck a track out the air that’s inspired by nothing. My first album as the song titles might suggest were all named after and inspired by things that made me feel really good and moments that brought me joy in life. Things that when I think about them I feel, as the album title would suggest, Content. Plus my finances on the cover of it so I have no excuse but to feel happy"

What’s your process for turning an idea into a finished track?

- "It depends, it usually goes one of two ways. Either I’ll have a beat or melody in my head and I’ll play it on either the keys or guitar, fine tune it and sculpt the rest of the track around it. Or plain and simply I just play something random on the piano until something clicks and I end up vibing with it! Usually it’s the former"

What role do experimentation and spontaneity play in your music?

- "Recently quite a big one, there’s a track on my latest album called Learning magic ft Kopu which is a very electronic synthy style of lofi which wouldn’t be something I’d gravitate towards but seeing as how well it blends with my style it’s really shown me that there’s no end to creative possibilities with this genre and that the sky really is the limit! It’s definitely something I’ll be using more of in later tracks"

How do you see your music evolving in the future? Are there any styles or techniques you’re eager to explore?

- "Similar answer really to the previous one, while I like where I’m at in terms of my style and sound I definitely wanna strive more towards exploring new avenues and sounds and seeing what works and what doesn’t. As far as the evolution of my music is concerned I’m not holding out for anything that will define it indefinitely, I’m just gonna let it change and evolve naturally as I do as a musician and see where we both end up"

What’s your philosophy on connecting with listeners through your work?

- "I like to think that people have a similar experience to what I had when diving down this rabbit hole of music in that when you’re listening to it you just feel some sense of calmness and belonging a genre filled with kind hearted people that just get you you know? Where the vibes are nothing but positive and people just wanna see you do well. Eventually you’ll find the vibe that matches best with yours and that’s how you connect. Just by being present and experiencing the artists work"

Are there any particular challenges you’ve faced in your creative journey, and how did you overcome them?

- "I would have to say my second album, I wrote it as a tribute to my recently departed grandfather and due to how much he meant to me I felt as though I put an enormous amount of pressure on myself to make it perfect. A lot of deleting and starting again was had until I was listening to one of the tracks that was VERY unfinished and I certainly thought that, this is all it needs to be, it doesn’t have to be perfect it just has to be me, something I just really connect with and feel accomplished in making. After that the rest of the album came along pretty smoothly. Moral of the story, just be you"

If you could collaborate with any artist—living or not—who would it be, and why?

- "Oh easy, Laffey! That guy inspired me to get into lofi from the beginning and has had an enormous influence on my sound as the years have gone by! I’ve spoken to him once I think but would absolutely love to make a track with him! It’d definitely be full circle for me haha"

What advice would you give to someone looking to find their voice as a musician?

- "Just be you, corny as it sounds. Don’t try and be like someone else or replicate someone else’s sound cos when you try and mimic it and it doesn’t sound like that, you’ll just get annoyed. Just be you and really feel it when you’re creating. Your sound and style will eventually come through with ease!! Take inspiration and advice everywhere you can get it and don’t be afraid to ask questions! And most importantly don’t limit yourself to one style, branch out, explore, say screw it I’m doing this because I can! Make music for you, not for an algorithm"

As our conversation came to an end, it was clear that Klaus Vendicato’s music is a reflection of his soul—a delicate balance of emotion, authenticity, and intention. His passion for creating meaningful soundscapes that connect with listeners on a deeper level is evident in every note he produces.

Whether you’re a longtime fan or discovering his work for the first time, Klaus’s perspective reminds us that music isn’t just something we hear—it’s something we feel. So, the next time you press play on one of his tracks, take a moment to let the melodies carry you somewhere personal. After all, that’s exactly where they come from.
