What drew you to the lo-fi genre, and how did you get started creating this style of music?
- "I used to listen to Nujabes, Petestrumentals, J Dilla, before I knew the term lo-fi hip hop. I just thought of them as chill instrumental hip hop beats and I liked the production. Years later, I found Wun Two and steezyasfvck’s youtube channel and got super hooked on that. At that time I was producing other genres and eventually I just decided to start making lo-fi and start the Sweeps project."

Your tracks have a distinct vibe. How do you approach building the atmosphere in your music?
- "I try to make it hard for people to tell when the music was made. I try to create that retrofuture feeling. Nostalgic and familiar, but also new."

Can you share a bit about your creative process? Do you start with a melody, a beat, or something else?
- "I try to find an interesting texture to start. Could be anything, as long as it sounds unique and interesting in the moment."

Are there any particular artists, genres, or sounds that influence your work?
- "Man such a long list. I think it all stems from listening to lots of chill hip hop from the 90’s."

What’s your favorite piece of equipment or software when crafting lo-fi beats?
- "Ableton Live for sure!"

Lo-fi often evokes feelings of nostalgia or relaxation. What emotions do you hope your listeners experience?
- "That retrofuture feeling I mentioned previously! At the end of the day, I’m just happy that people like to listen to it and have it be a part of their lives in some small way."

How do you decide on the unique titles or themes for your tracks and albums?
- "All the albums are transmissions received from a variety of origins. Each one tells a different story from that place of origin."

What’s the most rewarding aspect of creating lo-fi music for you?
- "I really love the process of making music. I would still make it even if I had no way to release it."

Are there any upcoming projects, collaborations, or releases you’re particularly excited about?
- "Check out my bandcamp! Gonna do some cool merch and some more vinyl soon. Definitely a new album in 2025. Also doing some more stuff with Chillhop this year!"
